Outdoor Learning Area
Welcome to
Mill Road Elementary School's
Nature Trail and Outdoor Learning Area
The nature trail was created in memory of Abigail Lundquist Botstein and is intended for the purpose of connecting children with nature through environmental education.
The components of the Outdoor Learning Area include:
1) The Abigail Lundquist Botstein Nature Trail with numbered learning stations.
2) A Forest Classroom bordered by "Bug Boards" which can be lifted to find log creatures.
3) A restored meadow habitat and benches for the Meadow Classroom.
4) A school garden
5) The Butterfly Garden
These components collectively allow children to experience the wonders of the living environment which connect to many aspects of our required learning curriculum. The National Wildlife Certification means that the forested area provides habitat and food for wildlife and has a nearby water source.
