Station 5
Station 5 is the Bell"s honeysuckle bush. This bush is not native to our area either, but has been spread to many places by birds. The bush has red berries that are eaten by birds and the seeds are spread in the bird"s droppings. This is an interesting relationship between plants and animals. Unfortunately, the bushes crowd out native plants and will take over a habitat if allowed to spread. In 2010, many of these bushes were pulled out to allow more native plants to grow near the trail.
