Staff in each building said the goal of the day was to get children settled in, with orientation assemblies planned for the coming days.

The Red Hook Central School District will hold a special referendum vote in October to determine the future of capital improvement projects in and around each school building.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Janet Warden formally welcomed staff back for the new year with a presentation at the high school’s Performing Arts Center that focused on how the district would transform to meet the evolving needs of students.

Several construction projects being completed this summer will improve the energy efficiency throughout the district.

A study is being done by the Rockefeller Institute of Government to assess New York State's foundation aid education funding formula and discuss potential changes to how the formula works.

The garden instructor for the Mill Road elementary schools this winter led the students in tapping maple trees and making syrup, as part of lessons in how trees work and the differences between processed and homegrown foods.

Teachers overseeing the Crossroads classes at the Mill Road elementary schools declared the six-week enrichment program a success as the winter session wrapped up.
